BPL gateway

Definition:
consumer side endpoint (i.e. meter gateway) in the BPL communication infrastructure of a Smart Grid

NOTES: The BPL gateway provides connection between the BPL network on the low voltage grid and the local area network. The BPL gateway acts as a modem and modulates the TCP/IP data packets from the devices in BPL signals. The BPL gateway also provides standardized short range interfaces to read electronic meters.
