NOTES: The BPL Headend is the central point of a BPL system installation and provides two main functions. Firstly, it serves as gateway between the Broadband
Powerline and the Backbone network and secondly it is responsible for the organization of other connected BPL units to ensure a stable and reliable network. The two interfaces – Ethernet and BPL – provide the connectivity required to transfer data between the
telecommunication backbone and the powerline network, thus achieving full IP connectivity.
The BPL Headend is installed in transformer stations, street cabinets or sub-distribution boxes. From here the BPL Headend supplies all BPL Repeater and BPL Gateways in the distribution area via dynamic routing.
